What makes Ziggo stand out
Ziggo's current offer is 12 months at €34,95/mo on a 2-year contract, applied to both Internet-only and Internet & TV, with ESPN included and free installation. The standard rate afterwards is €41,95/mo internet-only or €58,40/mo with TV. Ziggo also includes Ziggo Sport in its TV bundles, which covers Eredivisie football, Formula 1, and cycling. For expats who care about Dutch sports, this is a real advantage over KPN's standard packages.
Since late September 2026 Ziggo lets you choose how to take the discount on a 2-year contract: €34,95 per month for the first 12 months, or half price for the first 9 months (Internet 200 Mbit/s at €20,98 instead of €41,95). Over two years the 9-month option comes to about €818 on that tier against about €923 for the 12-month one. From 5 October to 8 November 2026 there is a third choice: a €400 bol gift card instead of any monthly discount, so you pay the full €41,95 from day one (€1.006,80 over two years) but get €400 to spend at bol. If you would spend that anyway, it is the cheapest route at about €607 net. After the promo it reverts to €41,95 per month internet-only or €58,40 with TV.

KPN is the Netherlands' national telecom company and the owner of the country's primary fibre network. It also provides wholesale fibre access to other providers (including Odido). KPN's own retail internet plans come with a technician installation and the benefit of symmetrical upload speeds on all fibre tiers.

What makes KPN stand out
KPN's biggest advantage over Ziggo is symmetrical upload speed on fibre. At 100 Mbps you get 100 Mbps upload (compared to Ziggo's 50 Mbps). At 500 Mbps and above, the difference becomes very significant for anyone uploading large files, video conferencing, or running a home server.
The flat €35 during the first 12 months is best value on the fast tiers. If you want 500 Mbps or 1 Gbps symmetrical fibre, you pay the same €35 as the entry tier in year 1, and at 1 Gbps a console comes free, so KPN is hard to beat there. The Klik&Geen-Gedoe installation service means KPN handles everything including router configuration.
KPN's current 2-year deal is a flat €35/month for the first 12 months on every speed tier, then €44/month on Snel 100 up to €52,50 on SuperFiber 1000 and €70 on SuperFiber 4000. Adding KPN mobile unlocks Combivoordeel discounts. KPN mobile is still ranked the world's best network by umlaut (March 2025), so combining KPN internet with KPN mobile still has real merit for combo discounts. You are arriving next week and need internet immediately
Winner: Ziggo. Ziggo can be active within 3-5 days if coax cable is already installed at your address. KPN requires a technician visit and takes 1-2 weeks. Check your address on Ziggo's website first. If cable is not available, consider Odido Klik&Klaar (no technician, 5G, monthly cancellable) as an interim solution while waiting for fibre.
You work from home full-time and do frequent video calls

Is Ziggo cable internet good enough for working from home?
Yes for most people. Ziggo's download speeds (200 Mbps to 2 Gbps) are excellent. The main limitation is upload speed: 25 Mbps on Internet 200, 50 Mbps on 500, 100 Mbps on 1 Gbit/s and 120 Mbps on 2 Gbit/s. If you do frequent large file uploads, video editing, or run a home server, KPN fibre (symmetrical upload equals download) is the better choice. For video calls, streaming, and general work-from-home tasks, Ziggo cable is perfectly capable.
Do I need a BSN to sign up for Ziggo or KPN?
Yes, both Ziggo and KPN require a BSN (Burgerservicenummer) to sign up. You will also need a Dutch bank account for direct debit. How long does Ziggo installation take compared to KPN?
Ziggo typically takes 3-5 days for a new connection if cable is already in your building (which covers around 90% of Dutch addresses). If cable needs to be activated at your specific address, it may take up to 2 weeks. KPN fibre installation requires a technician visit and takes 1-2 weeks on average.
