Simyo vs Odido 2026: a KPN-network bargain against the largest operator

Price, network, stores and unlimited data compared for expats

Last updated: November 5, 2026Verified November 2026

The short answer

Simyo is a budget brand on the KPN network. Its Super Sale charges €3,50 a month for the first 12 months of a 2-year contract on 20GB, 30GB or 40GB. Odido is the largest Dutch operator, with its own network, 118 stores and an English app, and its SIM-only plans start at €14 a month. See how both rank against every other provider in our mobile providers comparison.

Over 24 months the gap is large: Simyo 20GB costs €174 in total, against €504 for Odido 20GB with unlimited calling. Odido earns its premium with stores, unlimited plans and bundle discounts with Odido home internet.

Bottom line: take Simyo if you want KPN coverage for the lowest price and manage everything online. Take Odido if you want truly unlimited data, a store to walk into, or a discount for combining mobile with home internet.

What you pay over 24 months

A promotion only tells half the story, so compare the full contract. These totals assume you keep the same bundle for the whole 2-year term.

Plan24-month total
Simyo 20GB€174
Simyo 30GB€198
Simyo 40GB€222
Odido 20GB, unlimited calling€504
Odido Unlimited Start€600

When Odido closes the gap

If you need more than 40GB a month, Simyo has no unlimited bundle in this promotion, while Odido Unlimited Start costs €25 a month. And if you also take Odido home internet, the combination discount narrows the difference further. Our Odido vs KPN mobile comparison covers the bundle maths.

Network and coverage

Simyo uses the KPN network, including 5G, so its coverage is KPN's coverage. Odido runs its own 4G and 5G network, built from the 2023 merger of T-Mobile and Tele2, and it also carries budget brands such as Simpel and Ben.

Both networks cover the whole country. In the benchmarks summarised in our mobile comparison, KPN is slightly ahead on average download speed, and both KPN and Odido cover rural areas better than Vodafone. For most city users the difference is hard to notice in daily use.

Frequently asked questions

Which network does Simyo use?

Simyo runs on the KPN network, so you get KPN coverage and 5G at a budget brand's price. Odido runs its own network, formed from T-Mobile and Tele2 in 2023. Both cover the Netherlands well; KPN is slightly ahead on average download speed in the benchmarks we cite in our mobile comparison.

How long does the Simyo Super Sale price last?

€3,50 a month total for the first 12 months on a 2-year contract, or for 6 months on a 1-year contract at €1 a month extra. It applies to the 20GB, 30GB and 40GB bundles, and 400 minutes and SMS are included. After the promotion the 2-year price is €11 (20GB), €13 (30GB) or €15 (40GB) a month.

Does Odido have an unlimited plan?

Yes, several. Unlimited Start costs €25 a month at speeds up to 20 Mbit/s, Unlimited Basis €32,50 at up to 400 Mbit/s and Unlimited Snelst €37,50 at up to 1 Gbit/s, on a 2-year contract. Odido advertises unlimited from €20 a month for customers who combine it with Odido home internet.

Do Simyo and Odido support eSIM?

Yes. Odido offers an eSIM or a physical 3-in-1 SIM free of charge, and Simyo supports eSIM as well. If you are only visiting and need data, a travel eSIM may suit you better; see our eSIM guide for the Netherlands.

Can I get either without a BSN?

SIM-only contracts at both normally require a BSN and a Dutch bank account for the monthly direct debit. If you have just arrived, start with a prepaid SIM and switch once your BSN comes through. Our mobile providers comparison lists the prepaid options that only need a passport.

Is there a connection fee?

No. Simyo charges no connection fee, and Odido lists €0 connection costs for new customers.
