InShared vs Centraal Beheer legal insurance 2026: two Achmea brands compared

The same legal team behind both, with different prices and different rules on leaving.

Last updated: October 3, 2026Verified October 2026

InShared and Centraal Beheer are both owned by Achmea, and both send legal cases to Stichting Achmea Rechtsbijstand. So the lawyers who would help you are largely the same. What differs is the price, how you buy the cover, and how easily you can leave.

We quoted both on 3 October 2026 for one adult. For the wider market, including Univé, ASR, Allianz Direct and Legalec, see our legal insurance comparison, or Univé vs Centraal Beheer for an insurer without a waiting period.

The short answer

Take InShared if you want the lower price and the freedom to cancel on any day, for example on a fixed-term contract.

Take Centraal Beheer if your employer offers a collective discount, or if you want an insurer that explicitly helps with small disputes.

InShared: cheaper and no lock-in

InShared sells four modules that you combine freely, fully online. You can cancel on any day, and any premium you paid in advance is refunded. At year end InShared may return part of the premium if its claims pool has money left, but that is not guaranteed and should not be counted as a discount.

Everyone living at your address and registered there is insured with you. For accidents InShared works with LegalShared, a specialist in claims after injury.

Best for: anyone who may leave the Netherlands, and anyone who wants the lower price.

Centraal Beheer: no minimum and collective discounts

Centraal Beheer states it works without a minimum amount, so small conflicts still get help. Where a lawyer is legally required in a procedure, it reimburses up to €50,000 for a lawyer you choose yourself, and up to €10,000 for a conflict outside Europe.

Its calculator asks for your employer or association before it shows a price, because many have a collective discount, as do Zilveren Kruis health customers. Check that first: it can close the €2.18 gap with InShared.

Best for: people with an employer discount, and those who want small disputes covered explicitly.

What applies to both

Neither covers a conflict that started before your policy, and both make you wait 3 months for most cover. If you already have a dispute, read our guides on a settlement agreement or a deposit that was not returned instead.

Both are private policies, not built for IND applications or freelance work. Centraal Beheer sells a separate policy for freelancers, and our freelancer contract guide covers the rules that matter there.
